Welcome to Cooper Customs, the culmination of Phil Coopers 30 years of professional experience in the pewter industry, and a lifetime of passion for guitars, and their aesthetic value.

As a result of this 30 year dedication, Cooper Customs can offer a bespoke guitar customising service utilising specialised engraving techniques which have changed little for centuries, from a city famed worldwide for its excellence for all things steel, Sheffield.

My passion for engraving started following a visit to a local museum in Sheffield where I was so inspired by the engraved sterling silver metalwork I saw, I taught myself to engrave by hand. Further inspiration came many years later after seeing a metal-faced Zemaitis guitar, a truly beautiful piece of art.

The stylish and ornate full body scratch plates and headstock plates you will see in the galleries on my website are the result of a multi staged process, and hours of intricate engraving work.

The customers desired style or design is first engraved onto the plates. It is then polished to a mirror finish, and then electroplated to your specification in chrome, nickel, silver or gold. Finally the plate is fitted to your guitar.

Whatever make or model of guitar, be it a Les Paul, Telecaster or Rickenbacker, Cooper Customs will strive to create your unique design, and remember, my engraving limitations and passions are only limited by the creativity of your imagination!
